Single Family Homes:
Over 8,000 single family residences exist in Los Altos. The typical lot is between 10,000 and 14,000 square feet with an average of three bedrooms and two baths in a 1,750 square foot ranch style structure. The entry level market is approximately $1,050,000 for an older small home on a small lot. The average home is approximately $1,675,000. Very high quality homes are approximately $2,650,000 and the highest end average in the $4,000 range. There are even several homes approaching $20,000,000.
Planned Unit Developments:
There are approximately 1,000 homes that are part of a common association where all the homes were built with a common theme and share some common amenities. These range from $900,000 to $2,300,000.
Condominiums:
There are approximately 1,000 residences that were built as condominiums. They range from $450,000 for a smaller, older place to $2,000,000 for luxury condominiums.
Office Buildings:
There are hundreds of office buildings in Los Altos, mainly centered around the downtown area but also in the other smaller shopping districts around town. They range in size from the single story 1400 square foot building for approximately $1,400,000 to the large three story buildings located on the busier streets.
Commercial Buildings:
Most of the commercial/retail buildings in town are located at the center of town and in the five shopping districts scattered around town. Most of the buildings are one or two stories with commercial/retail on the first floor and offices on the second floor. The average cost of this type of building is approximately $2,200,000 but depends greatly on which street it is located.
Manufacturing:
There is basically no manufacturing in Los Altos.
